Having started HFS more than 30 years ago, I’ve had the unique privilege of watching financial plans shape families for generations. I’ve advised on trusts that grew substantially in value and were passed along to children. Now, I often work with those children as clients, and in some cases, even their kids. Seeing firsthand the impact of planning over decades is incredibly special to me. Beyond that, I love the daily engagement with both clients and the HFS team, sharing experiences and learning together. My wife likes to joke that I never stop working. She describes my vacations as just “working somewhere else”.
I earned a degree in Accounting from Stephen F. Austin State University. I spent 11 years at a national accounting firm before starting my own accounting firm in 1982 and founding HFS in 1994. Over the years, I’ve also served on the boards of CPA organizations and United Way-supported nonprofits.
